SPNRD to hold Public Meetings

Public Meetings to discuss ground water are being hosted by the South Platte Natural Resources District (SPNRD).  Topics to be covered during these meetings will include water levels, water usage, irrigation water allocations; water resources management strategies and upcoming Integrated Management Plan (IMP) revisions.  Feedback provided by attendees will assist the SPNRD Board of Directors in planning for water management and water conservation for the District, the main goal being protection of water users within the District.

The SPNRD is made up of three Nebraska counties; Deuel County, Cheyenne County and Kimball County.  While water allocations directly affect our District irrigators, ground water management affects all people with interests in our District.  All persons with ties to the District are invited to attend these meetings.  Water management affects both residential homes and professional businesses; public concerns, ideas, and input during the planning stage of the rules and regulations set by the Board of Directors (BOD) is important.

The Kimball County meeting will be held on February 22, 2018 at the Kimball Event Center in Kimball Nebraska from 10 a.m. through noon.  The Deuel County meeting will be held on February 27, 2018 at the Chappell Fire Hall in Chappell Nebraska from 10 a.m. through noon.  The Cheyenne County meeting will be held on March 1, 2018 at the Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) in Sidney Nebraska from 10 a.m. through noon.

Feedback from meeting attendees will help assist the SPNRD Board of Directors with setting appropriate allocations for the coming allocation period.
